Don Carlo | Alejandro Roy
Alejandro Roy, tenor from Spain, has sung Cavaradossi in Tosca and Don José in Carmen in Verona, and many of the great roles in multiple opera houses in Italy, as well as opera houses in Nice and Lisbon.  He has also sung the classic tenor parts on the big Spanish stages. Alejandro is a well-noted singer within the Spanish tradition of Zarzuela singing and has performed in some of the forgotten operas at Opera Cómica in Madrid. As a concert singer, he has performed Stabat Mater, Beethoven’s ninth symphony and Verdi’s Requiem, amongst other things. 

Don Carlo | Timothy Richards
Timothy Richards, tenor from Wales, is considered to be one of the leading tenors in Europe. He is honored for his soft voice and his brilliance on the high notes, but also for his dramatic acting. Since his debut as Alfredo in La Traviata in 1998, he has sung many of the great roles on the big European stages. This year, he has sung the title role in The Tales of Hoffman in Perm, Russia, and the role of Kalaf in Turandot in the opera in Cagliari. In addition to singing Don Carlo at Opera på Skäret, he will this year also do Don José in Carmen and Erik in The Flying Dutchman.

Filippo | Taras Konoshchenko
Taras Konoshchenkobass from Ukraine, is since twenty years well established on the international opera scene. He has sung all of the great bass roles in mainly Germany, but also in cities like Barcelona, Brussels, Toulouse, Vienna and Kiev. Since 2013, he is engaged at Theater Lübeck, where he has sung the most demanding bass roles in productions like Don Carlo, Tristan and Isolde, The Elixir of Love, Tannhäuser and The Flying Dutchman. He has worked with some of the great conductors, such as Wolfgang Sawallisch, Rubin Mehta and James Levine.

Filippo | Karl Huml
Karl Huml, bass from Australia, started his career at the Sidney opera house, where he sung Don Carlo, The Barber of Seville and La Traviata, amongst other things. After winning a German opera prize, his career continued in Köln, Bremen and at the Volksoper in Vienna.  He has also sung in opera houses in Hamburg, Essen, London, Perth and Melbourne. He has sung roles such as Daland in The Flying Dutchman and Schlemil in The Tales of Hoffman. He has also sung Mozart’s Requiem, Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins and Bruckner’s Te Deum in concerts.

Elisabetta | Charlotta Larsson
Charlotta Larsson is one of Sweden’s leading lyric sopranos. She has sung on all the big scenes in Scandinavia, including The Royal Opera in Stockholm, Gothenburg Opera, Malmö Opera, The Royal Opera in Copenhagen and Den Norske Opera in Oslo. She has done the title role in Aida, Mimi in La Bohème, Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera and Violetta in La Traviata. At Opera på Skäret she has sung Desdemona in Otello, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro and the title role in Aida. Charlotta has been awarded the medal Litteris et Artibus by the Swedish King.

Elisabetta | Ingegjerd Bagøien Moe
Ingegjerd Bagøien Moe, soprano from Norway, has sung the role of Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera, Mimi in La Bohème, Sicle in L’Ormindo and the title role in Suor Angelica. She has been a soloist with Romerike Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Symphony Orchestra, Tromsø Symphony Orchestra, Telemark chamber orchestra and Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra at The Estates Theatre in Prague. She has also sung Fauré’s Requiem, Brahms’ Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem and Stabat Mater by Pergolesi.

Inquisitor & Frate | Pavlo Balakin
Pavlo Balakin, bass from Ukraine, is one of the most prominent Ukrainian opera singers of his generation. The last years he has established himself on the Italian opera scene with the title role in Attila at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Doctor Grenvil in La Traviata at the opera in Firenze and Hermann in Tannhäusser at Teatro La Fenice. He has also sung Ramphis in Aida at The Estonian National Opera and Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love at Den juste opera in Denmark. Pavlo Balakin is also a sought after concert singer with Bach on the repertoire, amongst other things.

Inquisitor & Frate Engin Suna
Engin Suna, bass from Turkey, is since 2007 engaged as a soloist at the Antalya City Opera. There, and on other stages and festivals in Turkey, he has sung roles such as Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Don Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro, Colline in La Bohème, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Ramphis in Aida, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Sparafucile in Rigoletto. He is also an esteemed concert singer with, amongst other things, Beethoven on the repertoire. Engin Suna has won several prizes, and won first prize in international singing competitions in Turkey and Georgia.

Eboli | Siv Oda Hagerupsen
Siv Oda Hagerupsen, mezzo-soprano from Norway, made her debut in 1999 as the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte at Den Norske Opera in Oslo. At the same opera house, she has sung Mercedes in Carmen, Nicklausse/The muse/The voice in the Tales of Hoffman and Marcellina and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro. Siv Oda has been a soloist at all of the regional opera houses in Norway. In 2013 she was one of the soloists at L’Opéra de Montréal, during a Verdi gala concert. Last year she did Emilia in Otello with Tronheim Symphony Orchestra and Madama Butterfly at Opera på Skäret.

Eboli | Matilda Paulsson
Matilda Paulsson, mezzo-soprano, has during this season sung The Composer and The Dryad in Ariadne on Naxos at the Gothenburg Opera and Mallika in Lakmé at Malmö Opera. She has performed in Europe, USA and Japan. Amongst her roles one can find Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier at The Royal Opera in Stockholm as well as in Hannover and Kiel. She has sung roles as Cherubin in The Marriage of Figaro, Arsamene in Xerxes, Hansel in Hansel & Gretel and Fena in Nabucco. She has also sung Carmen at Finland National opera, The Royal Opera in Stockholm and at Opera på Skäret. She has worked with conductors such as Sir Charles Mackerras and Gustavo Dudamel.

Rodrigo | Matteo Jin
Matteo Jin, barytone from South Korea, went to Italy to further educate himself within the lyric singing tradition. After studies at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, he has sung in many Italian opera houses. He has done roles such as Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love. In the past years, he have had great success with the title role in Rigoletto. Last year he performed it in Magnitogorsk in Russia and this seasong he sings the role in Teatro Grande in Brescia.

Rodrigo | Valdis Jansons
Valdis Jansons, barytone from Latvia, has sung at the most prestigious stages such as La Scala in Milan, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and Lincoln Center in New York. He made his opera debut in 2004 and has sung roles such as the title role in Don Giovanni, Capulet in Romeo and Juliet and Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro. In 2015, he made his Swedish debut in Opera på Skäret’s production of La Traviata as Giorgio Vermont. He has been awarded the prestigious prizes Giuseppe Di Stefano (2006) and Associazione Lirica e Concertistica Italiana (2009).

Conte di Lerma | Riccardo Gatto
Riccardo Gatto, tenor from Italy, studied at the conservatory in Venice. He begun his career by singing Ferrando in Così fan tutte in Padua and Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville in opera festivals in Sarzana, Bassano, and in Amsterdam. He has sung on stages in Italy, France, Cyprus, Israel and Russia. In his repetoire, on can find roles such as Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, Cassio in Otello, Rodolfo in La Bohème and the Duke in Rigoletto. He has also been a finalist in many international singing competitions and won the Riccardo Zandonai award in 2014.

Tebaldo | Rebecca Fjällsby
Rebecca Fjällsby, mezzo-soprano, graduated from Operahögskolan in Stockholm in 2016 and did her internship at Wermland Opera, singing Lucienne in Die Tote Stadt. Later that year she sung the title role in Carmen at Berlin Opera Academy. During her studies, she sang Annio in La Clemenza di Tito at Operafabriken, and as her graduation production she sung Zerlina in Don G at Malmö Opera. She also studied and starred in roles such as Gertrude in Hamlet, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier and Siebel in Faust. In 2016 she received the Anders Wall Giresta scholarship and in 2018 she was awarded the Bayreuth scholorship from the Wagner Association in Gothenburg.
